Lemonjar offer full range of training courses of Koha ILS to you. We have the following courses, please browse through it and select the course/s that suit to you.

We provide 3 types of training methods: –

  1. Video Tutorial – you will be registered under Lemonjar Training Academy (https://academy.lemonjar.com.my), you can view and learn Koha online. If you have question on Koha after viewing the tutorial videos, you can ask us by sending email.
  2. Online Training – this is online face-to-face training method. We will prepare our dedicated trained system librarian or engineer to train you. We are using ZOOM to provide the training session. The session will be recorded and will send to you for revision purposes.
  3. Onsite Training – we will send our system librarian or engineer to your location and provide the training to you face-to-face. This training only valid for Malaysian.

Description

KOHA is the first free and open source software library automation package (ILS). Development is sponsored by libraries of varying types and sizes, volunteers, and support companies from around the world.

KOHA User Training is mainly to transfer knowledge to librarians on how to operate KOHA for all modules except Administration and Tools.

The modules that cover in this training are Patrons, Circulation, Cataloguing, Course Reserves, Serials, Acquisitions, List and Carts, Reports, OPAC and Searching.

Prerequisite/s

  1. Recommend the participant to follow the KOHA ILS Administrator Training (LSM-K-201) in order to have better understanding on the rules & regulations. (If the participant did not follow the KOHA ILS Administrator Training (LSM-K-201), he is still able to attend this training, as we will preset the rules & regulations.)

Description

KOHA is the first free and open source software library automation package (ILS). Development is sponsored by libraries of varying types and sizes, volunteers, and support companies from around the world.

This training is used to train the librarian (system administrator) on how to use the KOHA ILS (Administrator Module – KOHA Administration and Tools). This training will not include the training of system installation.

This purpose of the training is to train the system administrator on how to do the settings of KOHA for
many types of libraries such as basic system configuration, manage library/ libraries, manage item types,
how to use authorized values, manage patrons and circulation (rules & regulations), manage plugin, manage catalog framework, manage acquisition parameters, and additional parameters such as external server via Z39.50. And there are tools could be used to manage the library system such as manage notices & slips, manage patrons, manage catalog (such as import in batch), and other useful tools such as calendar, log viewer, publish news and etc.

Description

Description

This training is used to train the librarian on how to use the KOHA – Circulation Module, including check out, check in, renewing, circulation messages, printing receipts, holds, transfer, offline circulation and etc.

Description

This training is used to train the librarian on how to use the KOHA – Cataloguing Module. In this training, we will not teach how to configure your own MARC bibliographic framework, we will use the existing framework in this training. Once in the cataloging module you will not be able to add or remove fields and subfields so your frameworks must be ready before you start cataloging. You will know how the KOHA – Cataloguing module works, including add records, edit records, duplicate records, copy catalogue, add items, edit items, delete items, move items, authorities and etc.

Description

The course reserves module in Koha allows you to temporarily move items to ‘reserve’ and assign different circulation rules to these items while they are being used for a specific course, including course reserves setup, adding courses, adding reserve materials and course reserves at OPAC.

Description

The Serials module in Koha is used for keeping track of journals, newspapers and other items that come on a regular schedule, including manage frequencies, manage serial numbering patterns, custom subscription fields, add a subscription, receive issues, create routing list, subscription in staff client, subscription in OPAC, claim late serials, check serial expiration, renewing serials and searching serials.

Description

The Koha Acquisitions module provides a way for the library to record orders placed with vendors and manage purchase budgets, including setup the acquisition module, manage vendors, managing suggestions, placing orders, receiving orders, manage invoices, claims & late orders, acquisition searches and budget/ funding tracking.

Description

Reports in Koha are a way to gather data. Reports are used to generate statistics, member lists, shelving lists, or any list of data in your database, including generate custom reports, generate statistics reports and report dictionary.

Set these preferences before anything else in Koha, including add library, library group, item types, authorized values, manage patron category, manage circulation and fines rules, patron attributes, library transfer limits, transport cost matrix, item circulation alerts, cities and towns, catalogue administration, authority types, classification sources, record matching rules, Additional parameters like manage Z39.50 servers.

Tools in Koha all perform some sort of action. Often many of the items listed under Tools in Koha are referred to as ‘Reports’ in other library management systems, including patrons and circulation tools, catalog tools, calendar, log viewer, news, quote of the day, uploads and etc.

This training is used to train the system administrator on how to install the KOHA on Linux based OS including basic configuration. You will see the KOHA system is installed and able to see the OPAC at the end of the course.

This training is used to train the system administrator and system engineer on how to install the system inclusive of system configuration such as hosts file configuration, apache setting, email configuration, SIP2 configuration and etc. This purpose of the training is to train the system administrator and system engineer on the system installation, system upgrade, database backup and system maintenance.

This training is used to train the system engineer on how to modify the design of the KOHA ILS (OPAC and Staff Module) via the CSS files. This purpose of the training is to train the system engineer on how to make the OPAC and the Staff Module more interactive and beautiful.

This training is used to train the librarian on how to use the KOHA ILS (Staff Client Module and OPAC Module) on 5 major modules which are Patron, Circulation, Cataloguing, Reports, OPAC, and also other sub-modules on Tools and Administration that related to the 5 major modules.

This purpose of the training is to train the staff on how to use KOHA ILS exclude the administration settings, to handle the normal operation such as cataloguing for books, manage patrons, manage items, manage OPAC, manage circulations and generate reports.

Recommend the participant to follow the KOHA ILS Administrator Training (LSM-K-201) in order to have better understanding on the rules & regulations.
